THE CHEF (COMME UN CHEF)

The Chef, or in the original titled Comme un chef, became an appetizer that I eat French Cinema Festival in performances this year for the first time after so many years was visited Semarang. There is no any hope for this movie than listening style dishes fancy French restaurant tertampang teasing on the big screen. Yes ... in addition to movies, music, (a little) exercise, I am also very fond of the culinary world. It was not someone who can be relied upon when the middle of acrobatics in the kitchen, but I love food. Almost every cooking show - either in the form of competition, culinary tours or just a weekly cooking show - I watch. And that is the main motivation while listening to The Chef, looking for eye sight could starve as well as the stomach. Apparently, I did not just get what I wanted, but more than that. Daniel Cohen invited me to go to a fancy restaurant with friendly service, upscale food high flavor, as well as an entertainment of the 'waiter' and 'chef' is refreshing. You were free to laugh out loud at will, freely, like-like. Obviously an 'upscale' which is perfect for anyone who visited purely seeking entertainment release fatigue.

What was held by Daniel Cohen in this newest movie is the observation of the symbiotic mutualism between a famous chef with a full culinary lovers dream. Jean Reno that we just watched the action in the Alex Cross role as Alexandre Lagarde, one of the best chef in the French, who seemed to have forgotten their original purpose in cooking so magical touch without realizing slowly but surely fading which makes it unable to explore deeper capabilities. Stagnant. Could be, maybe it is time for him to resign from his job as principal chef at the restaurant three stars, Cargo Lagarde? In an attempt to find a new assistant, she met Jacky Bonnot (Michael Youn), a culinary lover like Wikipedia runs. Each recipe Alexandre, he memorized by rote. In fact, he did not hesitate when the chef idol criticisms are not obedient to the old recipe. With a career that was on the fence, Alexandre Jacky was recruited as his assistant after seeing much potential this guy in the culinary world. However, things do not necessarily go smoothly. Temptation block from a wife who felt betrayed, a daughter who felt abandoned, and a group of shareholders who have lost their sense of confidence.

Since the start of the introduction of the two main characters to the audience, The Chef has shown signs of being a spectacle endless amusement. Sure enough, Daniel Cohen brings us to a treat that is capable of non-stop laughter until the end of the film. With packaged theatrical, all the more perfect. Takes only 84 minutes, the film moves so fast that the audience was not stuck in boredom with interwoven stories that seem pedantic. Indeed, the movement which led to the delivery of the story was too fast to be very limited and less explored more deeply, however, I see that's not going to be the focus by Daniel Cohen. The Chef seemed to just want to be a movie that can make anyone smile and relieve the fatigue that descend when out of the theater. No pressure or burden to emerge as a third-class restaurant dishes that won praise from critics that hard to have fun, just pure fun for the audience.

In the narration, in truth there is not anything new to offer here. Not many of them the element of surprise that is injected into the fabric of the story is predictable will lead to nowhere. In this way, the key to success rests on the direction of the director, the ranks of players, and of course the effectiveness of a rolling joke. Lucky, Cohen got a class player Jean Reno and Michael Youn capable of synergy with each other in translating the script, the director claim that any form of jokes is not mired in a rough slapstick, crisp, or a fool, but rather refreshing. In addition to the expense form that managed to stomach cramps, sumptuous foods sights are scattered - except for the molecular gastronomy - can cause stomach humming. Eager to taste it. Positive message about the cliche nan never give up on your dreams, as shown by the character named Jacky Bonnot the fall up to build a career and received a series of rejection because not able to adapt to consumer tastes menu, successfully dihaturkan by Cohen without being preachy.

In the end, The Chef or comme un chef is apparently not as flat as I had expected. Perhaps in terms of storytelling nothing new everything, but if the watch of Daniel Cohen's sense of humor, then listen to The Chef is like the middle of eating a dish of molecular gastronomy. Outward appearances are deceiving. There would suspect that the Chef can perform as a three-star dish (in the culinary world) are delicious, fresh, witty, intelligent, as well as fun. Consumer satisfaction was successfully obtained.
